How to Be the Head and not the Tail

You know how it is, you are at work, you get frustrated because things don't seem to be happening the way they’re supposed

to be. You see people milling around but nothing gets accomplished. And in the daily hustle and bustle, do you feel that your goals remain just that – goals. Then maybe its time for you to stand up and do something about it.

Most people are content just to stand around listening for orders. And it isn't unusual to adopt a follow-the-leader mentality. But maybe, somewhere inside of you, you feel the desire to make things happen – to be the head, not the tail. Then maybe leadership just suits you fine.

Some people believe that great leaders are made, not born. Yes, it may be true that some people are born with natural talents.

However, without practice, without drive, without enthusiasm, and without experience, there can be no true development in leadership.

You must also remember that good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their natural skills. This takes a commitment to constantly improve in whatever endeavor a person chooses.

First of all, let's define leadership. To be a leader, one must be able to influence others to accomplish a goal, or an objective.

He contributes to the organization and cohesion of a group. He encouraging others towards the goal of the organization. It is about putting everyone on the same page and helping them see the big picture of the organization. You must be a leader not a boss.

First of all, you have to get people to follow you. How is this accomplished?

People will only follow you if they see that you know where you are going. Remember that bumper sticker? The one that says, don't follow me, I'm lost too? The same holds true for leadership. If you yourself do not know where you're headed to, chances are people will not follow you at all.

You yourself must know the vision of the organization. Having a clear sense of hierarchy, knowing who the bosses are, who to talk to, the organization's goals and objectives, and how the organization works is the only way to show others you know what you are doing.

Being a leader is not about what you make others do. Its about who you are, what you know, and what you do. Its about the trust and confidence your subordinates have of you. If they trust you they will go through hell and high water for you and for the organization. Trust and confidence is built on good relationships, trustworthiness, and high ethics.

The way you deal with your people, and the relationships you build will lay the foundation for the strength of your group. The stronger your relationship, the stronger their trust and confidence is in your capabilities.

Once you have their trust and confidence, you may now proceed to communicate the goals and objectives you are to undertake. Communication is a very important key to good leadership. Without this you can not be a good leader. The knowledge and technical expertise you have must be clearly imparted to other people.

Also, you can not be a good leader and unless you have good judgment. You must be able to assess situations, weigh the pros and cons of any decision, and actively seek out a solution. Good decision-making is vital to the success of your organization.

Leaders are not do-it-all heroes. You should not claim to know everything, and you should not rely upon your skills alone. You should recognize and take advantage of the skills and talents your subordinates have. Only when you come to this realization will you be able to work as one cohesive unit.

Remember being a leader takes a good deal of work and time. It is not learned overnight. Remember, also, that it is not about just you. It is about you and the people around you. Last night I could not sleep….

Usually I sleep very well, thank you. But last night I could not sleep. It is no full moon, may be too much excitement? However, I was laying there, tossing and turning and thinking….thinking…millions of thoughts racing through my brain.One of Ozzie''s (my brother in law) favorite questions is: "What keeps you up at night." Hm, should I get up and turn on my PC again?

And then I was struck with amazement, thinking about my online friends all over the world. How I was sleeping in rainy and cold and dark British Columbia, where my online friend Spencer is most likely sitting in College on a hot day in India. We met 2 or 3 years ago in a forum. Having great brainstorming sessions together online, exchanging ideas, messaging back and forth almost every day and sharing our successes. Or Brenda in New Zealand, we both are living in a "gum boot capital". My prosperity team mate Carrie in California, my business associates in England, Australia, on the East Coast….I love the Internet!!

The Bed Monster

The house is quiet, the kids are sleeping, I just checked on the dogs and we are ready for the night. Suddenly, a rustling, little grunt and heavy moving.

At first we didn't know where it came from because it stopped and it was quiet again. After several minutes the moving and grunting continued, this time the noise originated clearly from under our bed. What can be under our bed? The noise was generated from something a lot bigger then the occasional rat that finds it's way into the walls. It sounded actually very big.

I decided to take a careful peek and check.

What I saw made my hair stand on edge, a dark, large shadow with green reflecting eyes starred at me from deep within the underbed confines.

The moment it saw me looking at it, it started to crawl laboriously and noisily towards me. It also squeaked and wagged it's tail. Wagged it's tail? Of course, it was Jerome who had somehow found his way under our bed. He had a hard time to get out (see picture, but he loves dark places where he can hide, he is a real den animal (half wolf, half malamute).

I never thought he would fit under the bed, to big a behind :)

I am very excited about a concept, which is around now for about 50 years. To be in business for yourself but not by yourself. To do what everybody else is doing everyday and getting paid for it. Friends helping Friends!
Here is a little story to explain the concept.

Connie and Joe open a new Pizza place in town, and on opening day, you stop in and grab a few slices for lunch. The place is clean, the owner is friendly, Connie's husband Joe is in the back, kneading a batch of fresh dough. The portions are good, the prices are right and the pizza is very tasty. On the way out, Joe comes around front, wipes his hands on his apron, and personally thanks you for stopping by and trying his pizza.

You mention it to a few friends, and next Saturday night there are six of you sitting down to two large pizzas. You are happy to show them your new "find". Your friends are happy to have a good dining experience, and the owners-- well Joe and Connie are real happy that you are advertising for them! Does that sound like something you might do?

What if Connie and Joe were so happy they decided to try an experiment? The next time you stop in, Joe comes out from the back, pulls up a chair, and says: "Hey, I have an idea for you. You know a lot of people, right? I'm stuck here in the kitchen, right? So why don't we become partners, you and me? Connie and I decided we are going to give you a little commission on every customer you refer to us, OK? "

So you talk it up a little. You tell your soccer team, and the folks down at the gas station, and don't think a whole lot more about it until you stop back by a week later, and Joe gives you a check for $37.43, and says: "You are doing a great job, partner, keep it up!

Connie and I are so happy, we are going to give you an override on any customer that buys a slice, that found out about Connie's Pizza-- not just because of you, but because of all these people your friends are now telling too"

Would that be sweet, or what? Does this sound fair? Is anybody getting hurt here?

Snow Storm on the Sunshine Coast

We just survived our first AND second winter storm (and we don't even have winter yet) with a whole lot of rain at first and now with a LOT of snow!! and heavy winds.

The coast has been without power for a few days and I am again very thankful for our wood stove. It is kind of cozy, the storm howling, the rain hammering on the roof and on the walls and the ocean crashing on the cliff that you can feel it reverberating through the whole house. Candles and flashlights help us find our ways through the house and we make coffee and food the old way on the stove. We also had no Internet, no e-mail, no phone. Very peaceful without it. (Twitch!)

Whenever our weather forecast says, "light rain" or "light flurries" expected in the next few days' we tie everything up, when they forecast "rain" or "snow" we know that we are in for a heavy thumping. I have never seen "heavy rain" in the forecast, if it ever happens we are probably done for.

Sometime during the storm we got visited by a big, unnaturally cunning and ntelligent rat that has taken up residence somewhere within the walls. This rat is able to eat the bait out of a trap without activating it (I kid you not) and when we added glue traps and it got caught on it, it chewed it's own tail off to escape. Now it is even harder to catch, without tail and all. It comes only out in deep night to forage around the house, during the day (especially early mornings) it runs noisy marathons through the walls. Very annoying. Whenever it dares to show up and the dogs see or smell it, they are after the rat like a whirlwind, yet because of their size they can not outmaneuver it. Makes for great entertainment, especially when you can't see anything due to no power and you can only hear trashing and crashing and howling and all kind of monumental noises (by the dogs, not the rat, it's not THAT big).

Well, at least the bears finally decided to go into hibernation. The dogs had a VERY CLOSE encounter with one VERY BIG fellow one night when we let them out to do their thing.

I wish you all a good time, take it easy and be thankful for what you have.

Impossible is Just a Word

Everyone, at some point of his or her life, has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody big. Who hasn't fantasized about being the one who hits the game-winning homer? Who hasn't dreamed of being the homecoming queen? And how many times have we dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with our relationships?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that – dreams. And our aspirations easily collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization, we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day just barely existing. But you know what? Life could be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals is the word impossible. Most people get hung up thinking I can't do this. It's too hard. It's too impossible. No one can do this.
However, if everyone thought that, there would be no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.

Remember that scientists were baffled when they took a look at the humble bumblebee. Theoretically, they said, it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Unfortunately for the bumble, bee no one has told it so. So fly it does.

On the other hand, some people suffer from dreaming totally outrageous dreams and not acting on them. The result? Broken dreams, and tattered aspirations.

If you limit yourself with self-doubt, and self-limiting assumptions, you will never be able to break past what you deem impossible. If you reach too far out into the sky without working towards your goal, you will find yourself clinging on to the impossible dream.

Try this exercise. Take a piece of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, list down things ‘you know you can do’. Under another header, write the things ‘you might be able to do.’ And under one more, list the things that that are ‘impossible for you to do.’

Now look at all the headers strive every day to accomplish the goals that are under things ‘you know you can do’. Check them when you are able to accomplish them. As you slowly are able to check all of your goals under that heading, try accomplishing the goals under the other header-the one that reads ‘you might be able to do.’

As of the items you wrote under things I could do are accomplished, you can move the goals that are under things that are ‘impossible for you to do’ to the list of things ‘you might be able to do.’

As you iterate through this process, you will find out that the goals you thought were impossible become easier to accomplish. And the impossible begin to seem possible after all.

You see, the technique here is not to limit your imagination. It is to aim high, and start working towards that goal little by little. However, it also is unwise to set a goal that is truly unrealistic. Those who just dream towards a goal without working hard end up disappointed and disillusioned.

On the other hand, if you told someone a hundred years ago that it was possible for man to be on the moon, they would laugh at you. If you had told them that you could send mail from here to the other side of the world in a few seconds, they would say you were out of your mind. But, through sheer desire and perseverance, these impossible dreams are now realities.

Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Nothing could be truer. For one to accomplish his or her dreams, there has to be had work and discipline. But take note that that 1% has to be a think-big dream, and not some easily accomplished one.

Ask any gym rat and he or she will tell you that there can be no gains unless you are put out of your comfort zone. Remember the saying, “No pain, no gain”? That is as true as it can be.

So dream on, friend! Don’t get caught up with your perceived limitations. Think big and work hard to attain those dreams. As you step up the ladder of progress, you will just about find out that the impossible has just become a little bit more possible.

So Many Programs! Which One Do I Choose?

Do you feel overwhelmed? May be confused sometimes?

Ask questions first before you join any program. Do a little research about the choices of companies that you intend to join. Get some answers because they will be the deciding point of what you will be achieving later on.

How much will it cost you to join? What is included in the start up fee. Do they have a marketing system in place wit web site(s), autoresponders, leads system, audios, dvd's.....

When do they issue the commission checks? Every program is different. Some issue their checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate programs are setting a minimum earned commission amount that an affiliate must meet or exceed in order for their checks to be issued.

Find out whom you are doing business with to know if it is really a solid company. Know the products they are selling. The more you know about the company, the easier it will be for you to know if that program is really for you.

Is training available? Is somebody there to work with you one on one, to help you get started? Will you be part of a team?

Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid?

These are just some of the questions that needed answering first before you enter into any program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have.

Fresh Leads Versus Aged Leads- The Verdict Is Still Out

You are excited! You just started up your networking business and you are ready to launch your business to the world by purchasing a list of leads of people that are hopefully just as excited about a life without financial woes and time freedom as you are and then it hits you…$4.00 a lead. Ouch!

You quickly calculate that it will cost you $400 to hopefully be able to talk to 100 people about your business. Ouch again!

Are these $4.00 leads worth the price? This is where the age-old debate of quality versus quantity begins.

Any industry veteran will tell you, the secret to being successful in networking is not selling people on your opportunity, rather it is sorting through enough people to find those right people for your opportunity. It is quite simple really. The more people you talk to, the more people you will find that are right for your business.

This is especially important when you are first starting out. It takes time, practice, and patience to earn the confidence that will be necessary to increase the number of people that are attracted to you.

Yes, I said attracted to you. Most often a prospect will be willing to join your company because they have connected with you and feel that you are the one that can help them become successful.

However, unless you are natural born leader with an instant knack for the phone, you might have to stumble through a few hundred calls before you get enough practice with your script to come across as confident and comfortable.

So what is the solution? Most likely, these same leads that are being sold for $4.00 as a live lead or phone interviewed lead will be sold again as an aged lead for a fraction of the cost. If you look around you’ll see them called aged leads, 7-14 day old, etc. Yes they have been contacted once, twice, or more, before you receive them, however for the fraction of the cost they can fit into anyone’s budget.

There are two main things you need to keep in mind:
1) Not every opportunity is right for everyone.
2) Not everyone is as charming as you!

Even if other people have called these leads before you, the opportunities they are representing may not have been a right fit for them. Or perhaps they may not have felt comfortable with the other people. When you first chose the company you are with now, did you look around first to see what your options were before joining? Most prospects will often want to evaluate different opportunities before making their life changing decision.

So are $4.00 leads worth it? Absolutely! But only after you are ready for them, so you can make the best of them.

But until then, why not start off with a lead that began as a high quality or premium lead that is aged slightly so that you can purchase substantially more. Remember, it’s about finding quality people, and the more people you talk to, the more quickly you will find them. The right people will be receptive to you, whether they filled out a form today, or a week ago.

As you get more experience and practice. Start combining the higher quality or fresher leads with your aged leads to experience both. You will figure out what balance of leads will work best for you and your budget.

Parting Tip: As you get better, your leads will get better, regardless of the age or quality of the lead.

Never Take Your Eyes Off The Horizon...'

There is something life-altering about leaping from a perfectly good airplane with 12 lbs. of silk and string tied to your back while flying at 10,000 feet.

Like many other enthusiastic hobbyists, I fondly recall my first experience with skydiving. It was about ten years ago when I was in the Northwest Territories in Canada. I went through the standard lecturers and trainings from experienced teachers, but nothing can prepare you for the initial terror of crawling out on the wheel of a tiny airplane about the size of a Mercedes.

The first blast of air that hits you at 120 miles an hour wakes you up to the reality that you are two miles above the Earth, preparing to jump. You take a deep breath, hang from the wingstrut, smile nervously at your teacher, and release your grasp.

The first moments of anything new can be unsettling, and leaping from 10,000 feet is no exception. You feel the sensation of weightlessness as you remember to do as you were instructed. 'Arch! Arch!' You silently scream to yourself as a dizzying, spinning blur comes into view.

Your senses begin to realize that the twirling blue line is where the ground and sky meet. You recall your instructor's words, 'Never take your eyes off the horizon.' As you crane your neck to stay focused on one spot the world stops spinning out of control. You stabilize and begin to enjoy the momentum of freefall, plummeting earthward at over 100 miles an hour.

Believe it or not, it takes a full 45 seconds to free-fall a vertical mile. After the chaotic first few seconds, you have what seem like a lifetime to ponder, internalize and enjoy life before your altimeter reminds you to throw your pilot chute.

While screaming down at 100 miles an hour you calmly reach down to your belt, grab a 2 foot square of silk and toss it into the air with the hopes that the drag caused by the pilot pulls your larger, life-saving chute open.

You count silently to 5 and feel the welcome tug as your chute fills with air and you peacefully glide down to earth!

Building your networking business is a lot like skydiving for the first time. People tell you how to do it, you read about it, you watch others do it, but there is still incredible apprehension in attempting it for the first time. Family and friends try to tell you you're crazy. 'What if you fail?', they cry. The last seconds before you take the plunge are filled with self-doubts. 'What if I really do screw-up?'

You finally work up the courage to leap, only to find your world spinning out of control moments later in unfamiliar surroundings. Panic sets in, and unless you take control of your situation you'll quickly give up, merely another statistic of failed networkers.

What is the solution?

Focus your entire being on your desired outcome and ignore the distractions. Pick that one spot on the horizon that represents your goals, dreams and aspirations and stay focused no matter what.

Watch as the annoying, spinning distractions drop away and life comes under your control once again. Feel yourself and your business accelerate towards breathtaking momentum. Notice the onlookers on the ground cheering you on.

Enjoy the excitement!

10 questions you should ask to yourself: a preparation to self-improvement

Be all you can be. I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course it's hard to think of anything else when where are real issues to be discussed.

Still I aspire for something deeper and more meaningful.

So we're all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn't even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be short-lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks… or can they?

1. What do I really want?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.

Find something that you are good at can help realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.

2. Should I really change?
Today's generation has taken another level of redefining 'self', or at least that's what the kids are saying. Having an army of teenage kids has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or maybe even promiscuity. So how does that fit into your lifestyle?

3. What's the bright side in all of this?
With so much is happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. And if it's a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round!

4. Am I comfortable with what I'm doing?
There's always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, shirt and whatnot. It doesn't take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we'll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety brings in very interesting and exciting questions to be experimented.

5. Have I done enough for myself?
Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you'll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.

6. Am I happy at where I am today?
It's an unfair question so let it be an answer! You love being a good and loving mom or dad to your kids, then take it up a notch! Your kids will love you forever. The same goes with everyday life!

7. Am I appealing to the opposite sex?
So maybe I don't have an answer to that, but that doesn't mean I can't try it, though. Whether you shape-up, change the way you wear your clothes or hair, or even your attitude towards people, you should always remember it will always be for your own benefit.

8. How much could I have?
I suppose in this case there is no such things on having things too much or too little, but it's more on how badly you really need it. I'd like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?

9. What motivates me?
What motivates you? It's an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It's not like you can't have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that's it. Just try it piece by piece.

10. What Really Makes You Tick?
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it's something that you really want.

The Challenge of Focus

Or - Can you be in many places at once?

If there is one key to success it is Focus. Laser Beam Focus. To be successful you need to be focused. I make a plan. I plan the day, then I stick to it. I follow the plan and I don’t get distracted. I focus. Commit, Perform, Measure. But how do I focus as a working Mom? And on what do I focus?

In the morning, on the way to my basement office I stumble over clothes on the floor. As a matter of fact it seems there are more clothes on the floor than groceries in the fridge. I nearly avoid wiping the dirty dishes off the counter, which have mysteriously multiplied themselves last night, despite the fact that there is a dishwasher in the house.

Focus Buster No 1
We have an iron rule in our house that everybody has to help. But my kids - the Yeah Buts - say: I have to finish my homework first. Yeah but I have to finish that game first. Yeah but I am hungry. Yeah but I have to go to play with my friends. Yeah but it is not my turn. You see what I mean?

Focus Buster No 2
You have surely heard the phrase: Working Mommy Guilt. The Yeah Buts in my house know what it is. Mom has never time, she is always busy. Mom, you never drive me anywhere. Mom you made me so sad.
Working Mommy Guilt - feeling guilty because I am expected to keep my house clean. (Who would expect such things from me - o I forgot, I do).
Feeling guilty because the meals aren’t as nutritious as they should be. Even so, the rest of the family really doesn’t mind. Feeling guilty because - Oh I wanted to go to the training to night. And I totally forgot…

Focus Buster No 3
I am very fortunate that I can work from home, at home. This allows me to be flexible with my time. For example: The emergency phone call from school: Mom, I forgot my project today, it is so important. Can you pleeaase bring it over at lunch? So I jump into the car, no problem, it’s only 5 minutes from here, isn’t it? And here goes the focus again.
But you know, I can’t have it all. There is only so much I can do in a day.

So, I just overlook the clothes on the floor. Although the kids complain that there is never anything to eat in the house, they always find something. And I am really happy that my husband does most of the cooking. Interestingly enough, they never complain to him.
Their messy rooms - I just close the doors - I don’t have to live there. Luckily we have company coming over once in a while and then you should see us all whirling through the house. At least it looks nice for one day.

I won’t compare my business success with somebody who is working full time and I don’t overload myself and I will let a few things slide. I am not perfect and will never be. So I try to focus on what is really important at that moment (at least most of the time). Life is full of choices and I can choose to make the best out of it and enjoy it in the process.
I do not try to control circumstances. That is one of the biggest "busters’, the frustration you experience because circumstances have gone awry and then you feel guilty. You think you should be somehow able to control it. But let’s get this straight: You can’t! So the first thing I can do is to stop trying to control, or taking responsibility for circumstances that are outside of my control.

There is only one thing I can control in this world and that is myself. I can’t control the weather, other drivers, my kids or spouse. I have to focus all of my attention on developing myself and doing what is right in that moment. Controlling myself while letting what will happen, happen. Let it go. Let the Lord be in control.
I choose to focus on the good in every situation and every person including myself. Something else I learned is to stop making a "big deal" out of things that aren’t really a big deal at all.

I have a happy family, the kids are best buddies and friends to each other and we take time to talk and to laugh together. I am a Mom, a friend, a coach, a counselor, a businesswoman, and a wife - and - I can’t be in more places at once. That’s why I choose to focus on the most important thing of the moment.

4 weeks ago I was asked the question; "Are you extrovert or introvert?"
My automatic response was: "I am introvert. Am I not shy? Afraid to talk to "strangers"? But then, I love networking. I enjoy being out among people. So what am I?"
I am on this earth now for so many years and I still don’t know? Where do I go? What do I become? A speaker?
We learn everyday!

I was born in and grew up Germany, in a town called Hoesel. My parents wanted me to become an engineer. That’s what my Dad was, an engineer. But I had different dreams. Totally different. I wanted to become a nurse. One day my parents brought an uniform/costume from England. A cape, a hat, the watch. I liked that.
But that’s too easy. You have a dream – you follow it – you become. No, there had to be a detour.

I was very rebellious in my teens, and I dreamed of being an artist, living in a hippie community. It would be cool to make everything yourself.
Now was the time for the next step.
Dropping out of school. What do I need a high school degree for?
I moved into a different city called Duesseldorf and I did an apprenticeship in a fashion company. Knowing how to sew is definitely helpful when living in a community. So I worked in the fashion industry for 3 years and helped in fashion shows, worked in administration, the works. My goal was to visit the college of Fashion Design afterwards. But, these were not the kind of people I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
Dream No. 1 awakened again. And…

Now was the time for the next step.
I moved into a different city called Cologne and started with nursing school. There was my uniform. And – guess what - I didn’t like it. Skirt hanging wide over the knees, collar buttoned up, having to wear white aprons and then the hat.
But these were only minor details. I loved nursing. Helping people. The medical education.
So, I did this for several years and then…

It was time for the next step.
I moved into a different city called Frankfurt and got married. Now I became a housewife. Mom with first one, then two, then three and then
We moved into a different city called Stuttgart and then we had No.4.
In 92 we came to Canada to visit my brother in law and his family. And we loved it here in BC. "Let’s try to immigrate again!" Again? Yes, we had tried it before in the beginning of our marriage. But despite sponsorship and knowing influential people in the government, we tried for 3 years without any results. Now, 10 years later – let’s try one more time!
Now was the time for the next step.

We applied and then we had 6 months to sell everything and pack our suitcases and some boxes and then we moved to into a different city called…..Vancouver. The first years were very tough but we never looked back.
No nursing here though. Different system, different education, different exams. I did the paper routes and I worked with Canada Post for 2 years as an Admail worker. Volunteer work and Office work…
... And then it was time for the next step.
1 1/2 years ago I started my own business – Internet marketing consulting. Me – the shy one. But I knew I had to do the next step.

In February was the time. For too long I had the ad lying on my desk. Morningside Toastmasters. I knew from my Cousin in L.A. how great Toastmaster was and how much she had learned and changed.
I will take Grace by her word. She said: "Once you’ve did your first speech, you want to do more."
Yes, and now, I took the next step.
And by the way, did I mention that since we live here in Canada we have already moved three times?

P.S. This was in 2003, since then we moved to the Sunshine Coast to Sechelt, one year later to Roberts Creek, and now I’m pooped and stay put until……..

What a day!

Did you ever have it happen to you that things happen all at the same time? Well, I had a day like that.

First the dryer, which was already making funny noises for a while, started to squeal like a horde of pigs and refused to work anymore, and then the washer refused to do the work it was designed for and did not spin. No amount of twisting knobs or calm words would convince it to work. The good news, the repairman came right away, one of the benefits of living in little town I guess. However, when he tried the washer, the stupid thing WORKED. I could not believe it. Made me happy that the dryer at least was toast. So he fixed the dryer, but when I insisted that the washer was broken he gave me this very funny look and left, telling me that IF I have further problems to call him. Great!

Him gone I went back to do the laundry. Guess what? The *&%^^%$ laundry machine DID NOT work. I called the man, but this time I did not get lucky, he was busy. Hopefully he can come tomorrow or on Friday, or on Monday………

Not one to be easily discouraged I went to do some vacuuming. We had to fix the belt, no surprise here. With two big Alaskan Malamutes even the best vacuum cleaner dies very quickly. Because of the hair that keeps flying through the house like tumbleweeds. It is shedding season and the hair is everywhere, but I digress. My youngest daughter, the sweet, started the vacuum and drum roll please……. it worked.

For about a minute when suddenly big black smoke started to billow, no not wafted, but billowed out of every part of the machine. That was it, we unplugged the vacuum, opened the windows to get the stink out and I proceeded to work in our on-line business. There are after all lots of customer questions to be answered, orders to be placed and so on. Thinking the day could only get better. I was wrong. My brother, I love him dearly and he is a very intelligent man COULD NOT FIND the order button on our products site. We have one order button clearly visible under EVERY product. How can you NOT find it? Now with every other customer I would be super friendly and talk them through this very difficult task, but…he is my brother. You can talk frankly with your brother, right? Wrong! He was, let us say not very happy with what I called him and did not order, yet. He probably will tomorrow.

After that I decided not to do anything important anymore, have a nice cup of coffee, take a book and relax. In hindsight it seems all pretty funny and that is why I thought I share it with you.

Have FUN! Do not let circumstances get you down. When life hands you a lemon, make lemon juice. No idea who said that, but I like it.

I have good news for you. Being a coffee addict myself I always was suffering under the fact that I was not supposed to drink coffee. And everybody knows by now how bad your body reacts to the caffeine. (If you don't know, shoot me an email me and I'll explain.)

Now I got the first post online. But there is more involved than just posting to your blog. You heard about pinging, haven’t you? Do you know how to ping? Where to ping? What to submit and where? And how often?

There are lots of ebooks out there in cyber space to get all the info you need. Don’t get overwhelmed. Do it step by step. Day by day. Here a bit, there a bit and you’ll get there.
I am reading right now the "Blog and Ping Tutorial" from (ups I closed the file)…..

My recommendation for today:
Sign up for a membership site like
NICHE HEALTH PRODUCT, you’ll have all the tools and training and coaching and information you need to build web sites, including the marketing and hosting, the content, graphics, keywords etc and great interaction with other members in the forum.

Another great tip is:
Stay organized. In the beginning I signed up for all affiliate programs it seemed, all of them. Got so many ebooks and tools and …then of course I couldn’t remember what is was and where it came from and how it was connected.

Where was I? Pinging. You need a yahoo account to because Yahoo allows you to subscribe to your own RSS feed. The you create a Yahoo Ping and an Technorati Ping. And so on. Without instructions your are lost.

Just starting. Yes, I was very excited to start a blog. So I created one (blogger.com), then got distracted, forgot my log in word, password, everything, couldn’t find my blog anymore, shoot.

Then I heard, word press IS the one to use. So I created a word press blog. Easy to set up it said, someone said. OK, I am experienced in building web sites, so how hard can it be?!
It was hard for me. I couldn’t figure it out. It got all messed up. Help!
Some more weeks were gone. My third try (there is apparently no try, just DO!). Here it is. Just started. So far so good. What now.

John Reese says in his report, that he is suffering from entrepreneur’s ADD, he gets distracted and then he forgets. Me too. I have the same. So here is my new blog and I cannot get started at all. What do I write about?

I am a network marketer, Internet work marketer. I never intended to become a writer. Isn’t that exciting?! Just have to write the first piece. Just do it. Here it is. How I got started blogging , my blogging-journey.

My tip for today:
Don’t go the try-and-error route. You may of course do it but then don’t expect too much success in what you do. Do the short cut and learn from the experts who have gone before you. And that means that sometimes the free stuff is not enough. You got to pay for your education. With time, money, courage, persistence….
But first things first: Get started!

Here is my recommendation for all who are in network marketing , mlm’ers:
